Information for publishers
Preparation of operations
On condition of proper publisher materials preparation as carbon papers,
electronic data, films, we begin the process of order's realisation.
It is unacceptable to join electronically prepared materials with ones
prepared in the form of transparency.
When there is illustration on fall , every illustration should be bigger
from net format at least 3 mm from every side.
Transparencies prepared for glued binding should have fall of 3 mm ridge
onto shear fraise.
Because of machine gluing at the ridge, the minimal distance from text's
ridge and essential graphic elements should be 6mm.
Important text and graphic elements should be placed at distance at least
of 5 mm net from cutting line.
You should not insert one small degree print line on adjacent columns.
It is unacceptable to carry over some mm of an illustration on adjacent page.
60 % cyanic acid screen should be applied under the area of black application.
It is unacceptable to generate the text and black black application from
four colors. When printing on papers of low weight, you should avoid printing
large areas
with more than one colour.
When applying little degree writing , under 8 points or other graphic elements,
you should avoid discrepancy(mainly of sherif type faces).
For the purpose of avoiding potential imperfections in registering, the minimal
putting of colours on themselves should be applied.
Thin graphic elements as e.g. lines should be made in one colour.
It applies to letters of small and medium degree of writing.
In case of texts in discrepancy on black application on black application,
the pick should be enlarged.
In case of multi-coloured text, the prevailing colour should be
picked for the required size of made element. As to other colours, the pick
should be larger.
Black texts in coloured background should be printed and the background should
not be removed in such cases.
In cases of glued binding it is of consideration that the second and third
page of cover and the first and last page of intake will be 6 mm glued from
the ridge along side gluing, so these columns should be 6mm narrower in comparison
to others.
Electronically prepared materials must meet other requirements >> Technical specification prepared for CTP files system <<
Ridges
In case of glued binding book ridges are defined currently by the preparation
production department, but only in case 'classic offset papers' e.g. Amber
Graphic and according to technological standards.
In case of cream, white pigment coated and volume papers the dummy of book
is required for the purpose of book's ridge defining as with hard and thread
binding .
In such cases the information about ridge width can be given later on, after
preparation of the dummy.
Binding services
Besides net format, run and type of binding, the following data should be
given for the purpose of cost calculation and time of realisation:
-what kind of material will be delivered, whether fly, sheet, tablet
-of what format was the printing(machine format) in case of sheet and how
it should be folded( number of folds)
-number of flies in operation
-what kind of service and materials is £DD Printery to supply and what materials
is to supply
the client.
-time of intermediates delivery.
It is unacceptable to send tablets for binding without glued end papers.
Because of machine production system ,it is unacceptable to send flies for
further binding process e.g. fly to fly thread sewing system.
Before sending assignments ,the dummy of final product should be delivered.
Gilding of tablet book sides
For the purpose of proper work preparing, it should be assumed that machine
for gilding, grinds every side of book separately and for three times and
by taking from 0,5 to 1,5 mm according to kind of material
It is unacceptable to send cylindrical tablets of net format-without gross,
mentioned above with such a finish as tape or headband.
For the purpose of correct pricing besides the required run and format, the
estimated ridge's thickness should be declared.
The £DD Printery reserves for itself the right not to accept any kind of
binding service.
